Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher's proposed move to Atletico Madrid is reportedly in limbo.
A £33.7million move has been agreed between the two clubs, with Gallagher travelling to the Spanish capital to complete a medical ahead of joining Diego Simeone's side.
However, it has since emerged that the England international's move to Madrid is contingent on Atletico offloading one of their players this summer.
Young forward Samu Omorodion was expected to join the Blues after impressing on loan at Alaves before the deal stalled after hitting a bufferon Sunday.
According to a report from The Telegraph, Gallagher is now waiting in Madrid and has yet to sign a contract, with any move to Los Colchoneros contingent on the Spanish club raising funds through a sale.
One player that could serve as the necessary makeweight in the negotiations is Joao Felix.
Chelsea have opened talks regarding a deal to bring the 24-year-old back to Stamford Bridge, after he had a short loan spell with the Premier League club in 2023.
He netted four Premier League goals from 16 appearances and expressed his 'love' for the Blues but they ultimately opted not to sign him after Atletico demanded £87m to make his move to Stamford Bridge permanent last summer.
A mooted permanent move to the Middle East ultimately did not materialise and Felix was again sent out on loan last season as he joined Barcelona for the 2023-24 campaign.
At the Catalan club he managed 10 goals in 44 appearances, including seven in La Liga as they finished second behind runaway leaders Real Madrid.
Should Felix return to Chelsea this summer it will reportedly be for a significantly lower fee than the £114m Atletico paid Benfica to bring him to the Metropolitano Stadium in the summer of 2019.
Atletico are said to be prepared to allow Felix to join the Blues for an initial fee of less than £40m, though he would need to take a significant pay cut to fit into the club's wage structure.
