MORE CURIOUS SHORTS - Anime
Anime. Many children love it, and adults too. Anime is a Japanese hand drawn or computer animation, the process of making an illusion of motion by rapidly displaying a sequence of static images. The word anime is actually an abbreviated pronunciation of animation. However, anime has been used all over the world to refer to Japanese animation in particular. Nevertheless, for the Japanese, anime refers to all forms of animation, regardless of countries of origin. Anime is known for its style of using colorful graphics, vibrant characters, and fantastical themes. In the early 20th century, Japanese film makers started experimenting with animation techniques. The earliest known Japanese animation is Katsuru Shashin, whose creator is unknown. In 1917, works of animation were professionally and publicly displayed. Since then, animators started producing their own works. Some known animators were Atan Shimokawa and Saitaro Kitayama. The oldest surviving Japanese animation film is a 2 minute clip of a samurai testing his new sword. It was entitled Namakura Gatana. Producing an anime involves character creation, storyboarding or chronologically organizing illustrations or images, voice acting or dubbing, and cell production. Anime is distinguished by its emphasis on the art quality rather than on movement. It aims to achieve 3D views and backgrounds that create the atmosphere of the work. The characters of anime are more realistic in terms of proportions of the human body, where height of the head is used as the base unit of proportion. Super deformed characters, which are made to have smaller bodies compared to the head or vice versa, are seldom incorporated in anime. Eye sides of anime characters are typically exaggerated, on which the emotions and expressions of a character are depicted. Hair is usually colorful and unnaturally lively. Anime characters feature different unique hairstyles, which help emphasize the action and emotions of a character. Various illustration techniques are used to depict different facial expressions and emotions, such as adding sweat jobs to depict nervousness and blushing for embarrassment. Anime has a wide bridge of genres depending on its target audience. Kodomo is an anime genre meant for children, shojo for girls, shonen for boys, and many others that also target an adult audience.
