Lee Zii Jia climbs to world number three
SHAH ALAM - Men's singles shuttler Lee Zii Jia has continued his upward trajectory in the world badminton rankings, climbing one spot to third. The Badminton World Federation (BWF) announced the update on Tuesday.
Despite an early exit from the Japan Open last month, the 26-year-old has shown consistent improvement, culminating in a bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
His impressive performance has earned him 83,716 points, surpassing both Kunlavut Vitidsarn of Thailand and Anders Antonsen of Denmark.
This marks Zii Jia's return to the third-world ranking after a 99-week hiatus.
The Kedah-born player last held this position on October 20, 2022.
Meanwhile, fellow local shuttlers Ng Tze Yong and Leong Jun Hao have maintained their top 30 rankings at 25th and 29th, respectively.
