  • Daniel Quirke has been living in his shed for six months whilst he renovates
  • His tiny home renovation added £30,000 to the overall value of his property

A man has transformed an abandoned and run down shed into an outdoor oasis - but he made one huge mistake whilst renovating.

Daniel Quirke lived in his property for four years whilst the shed sat 'derelict' in his back garden.

But after deciding to renovate the main home - he wanted to avoid any extra rental costs on top of his mortgage - so decided to breathe a new lease of life into the shed.

Although he is happy with several choices he made including the shed's dark blue interior, Daniel still has regrets when it comes to the stunning renovation.

Whilst transforming his new temporary home into a chic and cosy stay, he explained that he failed to take the time to level the floor.

'The garage is on a slope but by being in a rush and on a budget I skipped levelling it which was a huge mistake,' he explained.

'The sloping floor made everything longer to install, just look at this chair [that] keep[s] rolling backwards.'

Even though he is critical of his faux-pas, the transformation - which was planning permission approved - added significant value to his home.

Initially Daniel, who documented the journey on his YouTube channel, budgeted £8,500 for the shed revamp but spent £10,362 in total.

However all was not loss as the renovation resulted in his property increasing in value by a staggering £30,000.

'It was far more than I ever expected,' he said.

'I thought maybe I would get the money I invested into the property back but to see it tripled my investment blew my mind.'

The now chic and modern 100 foot-garage was neglected prior to the transformation.

So Daniel had to construct a new kitchen, bathroom and bedroom - mostly solo - so he could save on extra costs and live in the shed.

Although the small living space boasts all the mod cons - a microwave, an adjusting flat screen and more - it has no gas lines or even an oven.

Instead Daniel uses a microwave to heat up any leftovers or food he's preparing to eat.

Although the fold out double bed may also be slightly too small for the DIY-enthusiast, the space has served him well and he even hopes to rent it out in the future.

'I have lived here for six months and I really enjoy this space,' he quipped.

However the epic transformation wasn't the only feat he achieved, as the content creator also managed to fit his entire three bed home into a cupboard.

'Going down from a three bed house to a seven shelf cupboard did take some time,' he explained.

'But it was something that I was going to do anyway by the end of the year when I move away.'
