CSI: Vegas Gets Big Win With Series Finale Following Cancelation

CSI: Vegas Gets Big Win With Series Finale Following Cancelation

CSI: Vegas has come to a close with the airing of its Season 3 finale on CBS. While there won't be a future for the series on the network any longer, the show managed to get a big win on its way out the door.

Per TVLine, the series finale of CSI: Vegas set a new high for the series, drawing the highest viewership it's ever had. On Sunday, the airing of the series finale drew 4.8 million total viewers, a 16% increase. Because the cancelation was not known until more recently, it wasn't planned for CSI: Vegas to end with its third season, resulting in a cliffhanger conclusion that may never be resolved. Perhaps the silver lining is that the show made it to three seasons when the original plan was for the show to be a limited series. CSI: Vegas star Pauline Newsome is also holding out hope for her character's story to continue.

CSI: Vegas Star Paula Newsome Wanted Max To Be Kidnapped in Series Finale
CSI: Vegas star Paula Newsome tells CBR why she advocated for Max to be in peril during the CBS series finale, and her thoughts about the show ending.

"First of all, it was a surprise. I'm not going to lie," Newsome said of the show getting canceled in a TV Insider interview. "We had such amazing ratings and people were really in love with the show. Business is what business is sometimes, and sometimes, the ball doesn’t bounce your way. Looking back on Max, I’ll tell you, I love Max. I’ve got a crush on Max. I really like her. I like how smart she is. I like how strong she is. I like her warmth, you know what I mean?"

Paula Newsome Hasn't Give Up Hope of Max's Story Continuing

On where she sees Max going next, along with whether she'd reprise the role, Newsome added, "Max is a scientist. Max is a CSI. Max loves being in the lab, so she’s always going to want to be there. So stepping back, I think we get a chance to see a little bit of everything that she does... Hell yeah [I'd return as Max]. I love this woman and it’s not gone yet. Gotta hold out hope. But I would return back to Max anytime."
