NFL Fans Feel Bad For Broncos After Painful Offseason Blow
The Denver Broncos revealed some bad news on Monday after it was reported that second-year linebacker Drew Sanders suffered a torn Achilles this offseason.
Apparently, Sanders--a third-round pick in 2023--sustained the injury during an offseason program in late April before the NFL Draft, per Mike Klis of 9News.
Sanders showed plenty of potential in his rookie year with the Broncos, playing as both inside and outsider linebacker while featuring in all 17 games for Denver. He got four starts and played in 253 defensive snaps for the team.
Sure enough, the injury will derail Sanders' improvement and growth as a key contributor for Denver, sparking some frustration among the fanbase.
"Smh hate to see anyone get hurt, especially an injury like this," a fan wrote. Another one said, "Nooooo! This is always the worst man. Season ends before it even gets started for a player."
A football fan furthered, "Brutal Loss Sanders is an up & coming talent Liked him a lot in college."
"Oh man that stinks. Really liked his tape coming out. Broncos already dealing with an injury this early in the process," a Broncos supporter shared.
A fifth commenter noted, "That's whack he's got mad potential."
The good news for head coach Sean Payton and the Broncos is that there's hope for Drew Sanders to return late in the 2024 season. He already underwent surgery, with the recovery period set between six to nine months.
Here's to hoping that there won't be any setback in Sanders' recovery.
