Keeping your lawn nice and edged can sometimes be challenging, but don't worry—there's a simple solution that promises neat results.
DIYer @familydiytv shares this brilliant lawn-mowing technique that he took to his TikTok, and now it's a good time to take some notes!
These are great techniques if you know how to mow lawns and use a weed whacker. Cutting grass this way can help prevent grass clippings from being blown into mulch beds and can also promote a healthier lawn.
And I know what you may be thinking—that this is confusing—and I get it.
But let me break it down for you.
He first mentions "counterclockwise rotation,"which means when you walk to the left while mowing, you automatically cut the grass to the left, and the grass clippings are generally directed away from the mulch or garden beds. This can help prevent the cut grass from being blown or scattered into the mulch area, as the clippings are more likely to be dispersed onto the lawn itself.
Now let's talk about walking in "clockwise rotation,"which means when you walk to the right (clockwise) while mowing, you then also cut to the right, and the grass clippings are still directed away from the mulch beds. Similar to the counterclockwise rotation, this technique can help keep the clippings on the lawn and reduce the chances of them ending up in the mulch beds.
However, apparently going clockwise is the better option, as most weed whackers are designed to rotate clockwise. I guess you'd have to try it out for yourself and see.
The bottom line is that either technique can aid in achieving a more even distribution of grass clippings on the lawn, which can contribute to its health by providing natural nutrients as the clippings break down.
