Dog Thinks He's the Fastest at the Park, Then a 'Malligator' Turns Up

Dog Thinks He's the Fastest at the Park, Then a 'Malligator' Turns Up Pictures of Eris outrunning dogs in the park with his super speed.

A dog that once thought he was the undisputed speed champion of the local dog park met his match when a lightning-fast Belgian Malinois showed up.

In a hilarious video that was posted to TikTok earlier this month by user @arti_and_eris, which currently has more than 600,000 views, the super speedy pup can be seen running rings around the other dogs.

The TikTok video's text overlay reads: "Pov: You're usually the fastest dog at the dog park but a malligator shows up."

As the footage continues, Arti the German Shepherd and Eris, a Belgian Malinois, affectionately nicknamed the "malligator," begin racing around the dog park with another dog. Eris' speed is breathtaking, effortlessly outpacing the usually speedy canine, which appears to be a whippet.

The term "malligator" is an informal nickname for the Belgian Malinois, combining Malinois and "alligator" to describe the breed's boundless energy, powerful bite, and intense demeanor. Recognized by the American Kennel Club (AKC) in 1959, the Belgian Malinois is currently the 33rd most popular dog breed in the United States.

TikTok Users React

In hundreds of comments, people shared their reactions to the speedy pup.

TikTok user Shai_Dun wrote: "You can see when the mal goes into the next gear."

While Whyalwaysbees pointed out how Arti seemed to stay out of things and commented: "And the Shep just following slowly and making sure no one gets out of hand lol."

Toby posted that he was delighted to see the dogs enjoying the playtime: "Something so satisfying about watching dogs get to run full speed."

While TikToker Dayleecawn wished that her dog could get involved: "My dog would love this. No dog ever wants to play chase with him."

Despite the dramatic speed of the dogs in the video, the owner clarified that the dogs were definitely enjoying themselves: "Speedy doggos," @arti_and_eris wrote in the video's caption. "I promise they were both having fun, no one got hurt lol."

Meanwhile, this isn't the first time a speedy dog has gained viral attention.

Last year, a dog running at "full speed" to see his neighborhood girlfriend delighted the internet, while another dog found a way around walking in bad weather when he went for the "fastest walk in history" during an extreme storm.
