Cody Simpson reflects on 'amazing journey'
Cody, I'm gonna say congratulations. I know that wasn't the result you wanted, but you should be so incredibly proud of yourself on this journey that so many said couldn't be done. Thank you. Yeah, I I'm proud of myself. And I knew it was gonna be a tight one tonight, and it was gonna have to pull something out of myself there, but I was very close to my best swim. So, you know, all you can do is all you can do, which is a saying I quite like, because what else can you do? But it's been an amazing four year journey like. Having the privilege of swimming for Australia and winning medals internationally with the men's realized and you know, placing at World Cups and doing all that stuff, it's just been absolutely unbelievable. So yeah, I gave it everything I had this week and you know, sometimes you are. That's all we can do. So you've always said that it was about the journey and that 12 year old Cody would not believe. What you've done now, when you think back to that time and you think about I was a swimmer and then I turned my attention to music and after 10 years out of the water, I decided to have a crack. What has that journey been like? He and I think the 12 year old man would have ever forgived me if I didn't come back and have a go. And I think if he could see what, you know, the last four years have brought, it's unbelievable. Like I remember in 2022, everyone was like. What are you doing? You know, this is absolutely impossible. And you know, I said, well, I just want to see what I can get out of myself, and I think I've been able to. Satisfy a part of myself that. Satisfy a part of myself that was certainly. A fire that was burning very, very much inside me. And I've been able to kind of fulfill those curiosities and and desires that I had in the pool. And God, I've learned so much, like I've grown so much from it. So congratulations, Cody, you will forever be dolphin number 838. You know the number. Awesome, thank you. All right. Thank you.
